Following the release of the 'The Writing Framework 2025', English Hubs have created a series of webinars specifically aimed at school leaders and teachers. The aim of these webinars are to ensure leaders and teachers understand the importance of the writing framework, it's key messages, and expectations for them on writing over the next academic year, and to help them to plan next steps in their school.

Webinar 5 for English Lead & KS1/2 Teachers - Composition

This webinar will explore why teaching sentence construction is essential for developing strong composition skills. It will showcase effective methods for teaching sentence structure and paragraph organisation. In addition, it will emphasise the role of grammar. The session will also present approaches that successfully shift responsibility from teacher-led instruction to pupil independence when teaching composition. Finally, the webinar will examine each stage of the writing process—planning, drafting, revising, editing, and sharing—and highlight the value of each phase.
