English Hubs Mangotsfield Primary

Specialist Support

We are delighted that you are interested in accessing support from Mangotsfield English Hub. Our aim is to provide high quality insight and advice to enable you to develop your own excellent practice in teaching reading through systematic synthetic phonics and early language, and encouraging a love of reading among your pupils. Our focus is on supporting the children who make the slowest progress in Reception and Year 1 to ensure every child is successful, regardless of background, needs or abilities.

The funded support that we can offer, is available for infant, junior, primary and special schools and is FREE to access.

The support we can offer includes:

In School Audit:

A detailed in-school audit of your provision for early reading. This is an opportunity to identify areas of strength and areas for development within your provision. One of our experienced Literacy Specialists will meet with you in your school to carry out an in-depth review of your current reading provision, including observing lessons and looking at resources. This is a collaborative and supportive process.

We contribute towards the cost of releasing staff to take part.

Financial support:

We may be able to offer you financial support to fund training and resources linked to your SSP.

This will be identified as a need during the audit.

Intensive Support:

Some schools who meet the eligibility criteria will be invited to become a partner school and receive intensive Hub support. This is a two year partnership that must be committed to at a senior level. Schools will receive a number of visits during the partnership from one of our Hub Literacy Specialists who will provide ongoing, bespoke support.

We contribute towards the cost of releasing staff to take part.

Showcases:

Come along to one of our showcases to find out about the work of Mangotsfield English Hub, our aims and how we can support you in your practice.

Showcases are a free, half day event where school leaders can come together to share best practice in phonics and early reading. We have recently had Christopher Such and Ann Sullivan as guest speakers at our showcase events.

Medium Level Support:

All schools, regardless of location or position, are welcome to attend our CPD sessions where spaces are available. This CPD will always be free to attend and is funded by the DfE.

Some schools may be directed towards specific sessions based on an assessment of their needs following an audit or self-referral.

Your first stage with the English Hub is to complete a self-referral form. Please provide as much information as possible on the form below, we will use this to prioritise schools.

Once we have received your completed form, we will be in contact.
